Here I am, parked in my car at 4:30 am, eagerly awaiting the opening of Starbucks. My intention is to savor my morning coffee before heading in to teach the 5:30 am class. Coincidentally, my daily Osho reading unfolds to the theme of Joy, prompting a moment of contemplation.
The theme of "JOY" in today's reading triggered my cynical perspective. I found myself exclaiming, "Well, isn't that just perfect - the world is entangled in chaos, wars, and the destruction of life, our healthcare system is in disarray, and it's a cold, dark 36 degrees... and I choose joy?" I couldn't resist sharing this sentiment aloud, even though there was no one in particular to address.

Google is my go-to when I need to get to the bottom of a word that has me thinking deeply. Could you tell me what joy is?
The state of being utterly delighted and content.
Ah, finally it clicks. Engage in pursuits that make you happy and fulfilled. Enthusiasm drives me to go beyond. Just like the rest of you, I have routines that either improve my health (the good kind) or have a negative impact (the bad kind) on my happiness. Meditation, Teaching Yoga, writing and reading every day, spending time with loved ones, and savoring my morning coffee are all practices that bring me delight. Alternatively, I get dissatisfaction whenever I become engrossed in the world of social media, the news, and constantly check my inbox and the phone.
I understand that taking care of myself and seeking out the joys in life are signs of health and wellness, and that my emotions of inadequacy and worry originate from trauma in my past. As a fundamental human right, they serve as indicators of a sense of worth and joy.
Would you consider participating in an easy exercise with me? "Relatively simple" because it's easy to lose touch with what truly matters when we're too preoccupied with worry and stress to enjoy the simple things in life.
Note down three activities that provide you immense joy.
Easy, isn't it? Check in with your emotions while you gaze over those words. Breathe deeply, picture yourself participating in the events, and let the happiness to fill your entire being. Inhale deeply into your chest.
Keep in mind that experiencing joy is innate to your being.
Let yourself be embraced by joy by opening your heart.
